Dr. Bill Phillips, Dean of the College of Education (COE), established a Master’s Redesign Taskforce on November 5, 2007 to develop a proposal to design a new Master’s degree program, as mandated by the Educational Professional Standards Board (EPSB). This new Master’s degree program should have rigor and relevancy; it should equip involved students with more advanced learning skills in their selected programs. The EPSB amended section twelve of 16 KAR 5:010 (In Standards for Accreditation of Educator Preparation Units and Approval of Programs) to reflect changes in the Master’s programs for rank change or planned fifth-year programs for Rank II. This COE website will lend transparency to the design process of the new degree program because it will inform the following individuals or entities about the progress and status of the development of the new Master’s program: the Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) community, the EKU service region and EKU stakeholders.
